Concern about predatory journals

Dear Members of ISfTE,
It seems that many of the members of ISfTE have recently been targets of predatory journals through emails.  Unfortunately, these journals do not usually meet the level of publications required from most of our academic institutions. We caution all of our members/scholars to be very careful when submitting articles to these journals.
According to Wikipedia, predatory journals are those that charge “publication fees to authors without providing the editorial and publishing services associated with legitimate journals” (para. 1).  At the end of the paragraph, it suggests that newer scholars from developing countries are more at risk from these publishing practices.
Each country or geographic area has a list of accepted publications.  Please take the time to find that list and submit to them; or if you presented your article at ISfTE 2017, please consider submitting to our journal, JISTE.  Those submissions are due by October 1, 2017 and should be sent to Karen Berg Petersen at kp@edu.au.dk.
Sincerely,
The Executive Board of ISfTE
